Recently Cohen has learned how to open the doors in the house. I think he’s always “known” how, just didn’t really have any interest in doing it. Well, that’s not the case anymore. This morning after Lucas’ early morning feed I crawled back into bed next to Lilly girl and snoozed away. Around 6am I hear Cohen calling my name – MOOOMMEEEE.
The strange part was that his voice wasn’t coming from the direction of his room. I jumped out of bed to find the little rascal, and wouldn’t you know that kid was downstairs!! I ran down there to get him and he looks at me, so proud, and says, “HIII!” with a huge grin. What a stinker.
Backtrack to yesterday – Cohen got up at 6am and was calling for – DAAADDEEEEE. Well, Daddy went and got him and Cohen was a bit of a crab yesterday. 6am is NOT his normal wake up time. He is usually up between 730/8am. So, I was on a mission to figure out why in the heck he would be getting up so early. I checked his diaper – not soaked through, checked his temp – no fever, and checked all his stuffed animals – all there. When I gave him a hug when I laid him down, I noticed he was a bit chilly. So, I went and grabbed a huge fleece blanket and put it over him. Wouldn’t you know that kid went back to sleep until 745am! And I really believe he only woke up bc he heard Lucas crying for his next feed.
So, lesson here is to keep my baby warm! Both of my boys LOVE their blankets. I know, please don’t lecture me about the whole SIDS thing, my babies just refuse to sleep without their blankets. If you looked in their crib/bed you would probably be horrified. Lucas has 4 blankets in there. One rolled in front of him, one in the back, one in between his arms next to his face and one laid over top. Cohen has probably 20 stuffed animals, 3 blankets and now this huge fleece blanket.
Do any of you have explorer stories from your kiddos early in the morning?
