Before Mommyhood I was a teacher. Teachers have plans. Teachers follow schedules. Teachers are able to do multiple tasks and master them. I was a good teacher. I loved having a schedule. I loved doing multiple tasks and mastering them. My day went smoothly because I was organized. I knew what was ahead and what we were going to do. If there was a hiccup, I was able to swerve right along with it and keep going. I could probably still give you my daily & weekly schedule if you asked for it!

After I left teaching and became a SAHM (we moved to the UK) those first few months I thought I was a horrible Mom. I didn’t understand why so many Moms wanted to be home with their kids. Isn’t that AWFUL?! I was exhausted from round-the-clock feedings with our newborn and at my whits end with our tots new love of tantrums. I remember saying to my husband after we just moved into our new house, “Honey, I don’t know if I will be able to do this.” I gave it some thought and told him I would give it a few months, until the spring, and see how I felt then. I didn’t want to give up. (i HATE giving up)

Here we are 4 months later and things are MUCH better. I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to stay home with my kids. (there are times i do still feel like a slave – i know, i’m not perfect) I’m getting a full nights sleep and the tantrums are not every 5 minutes now. ?

There are, however, a few changes I am going to be making. Since we’ve been here I’ve been trying to figure out schedules. Now that my youngest is on a good routine and we have things sorted out, I think I have a good plan! I can’t tell you how happy my heart is knowing I have a SCHEDULE! It’s like peace has filled my soul. ? I want to make the most of staying at home and this will be the best way I know how.
Here’s a rough draft of it….
Anyway, I hope by doing this we can really start to add more stuff in our week once it starts warming up. There are so many cute farms and kid places to go that I think will be great for the kiddos. How many of you have a schedule to keep you accountable at your job? (because let’s just be honest here – being a SAHM is the job of ALL jobs!)
